Lead Character Artist
A premier gaming client in the Seattle area is looking for a Lead Character Artist. This position is a full-time direct hire job. There is no contracting involved, you’d be an employee of our client.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Art Director, Creature Lead, Technical Director, and Lead Gameplay Programme, and improve our robust character clothing customization pipeline Work closely with other artists, designers, and programmers to help craft visually striking next-gen clothing and armor Provide art direction to outsource teams, including reviews and feedback on 3D models, while helping with art direction on concept work Actively work with Production to help estimate, prioritize, assign & track various character assets directly related to gameplay features Support and delegate to the character team and outsource teams while working closely with leadership to make sure each person is being used to their fullest potential Maintain a balance between visual quality and performance requirements
Requirements:
Minimum of 4-5 years of professional game development experience in a senior or lead role Expertise with relevant software packages, specifically Zbrush, Maya, and Substance Painter Familiarity with Marvelous Designer Experience with and strong understanding of the proper topology and texturing for character assets for use in games Good understanding of human anatomy Strong self-motivation, great communication, and awesome team-player attitude Capable of mastering new pipeline and tech tools
Pluses:
Multiple shipped game titles on various platforms Experience using Unreal Engine 4/5, implementation, tools, and techniques Proficiency in 3DS Max, Blender, Adobe Photoshop, and other DCC tools Experience with creating interchangeable clothing assets for character customization Hard surface experience
